Why kids get defensive?

Why kids get defensive?

November 16, 2021

Our children are defensive and argumentative when they feel they're in the wrong. Why? Because often, being wrong is not acceptable at home. It equals failure, shame, embarrassment; they liken going wrong to being wrong. Parents can then get into an unhealthy loop of backing down and letting the child win - for a quiet life. But what consequences does that have for the child's self esteem later in life?

Pocket Money

Pocket Money

November 9, 2021

Let's chat about money.

Though, it's never really about the money.

It's about expectations, needs vs desires, borrowing and lending, saving and giving.

Money taps into so many other issues that come from the perspectives they form when they're small.

Money is a great tool for growing and influencing our children to have a healthy heart when it comes to generosity and wisdom.

Is your voice heard?

Is your voice heard?

October 26, 2021

Is your word pure gold?

Or do you feel it's bouncing off them?

Is your influence beginning to fade as they get older?

This week, I’m going to share an easy way to help your kids value your words, no matter what age they are. I'll share a simple way to ensure that you're not falling into common parent traps that make your kids ignore your words.

I'll also share how some common parent-responses can switch them off and even unsettle them.

Do people tell you it's normal for parents to get ignored?

It doesn't have to be!

Yes, it is!

This week we look at three ways to raise the gratitude levels in your home.

One Small Thing

One Small Thing

October 12, 2021

Our children need 9 affirming messages for each negative one - whether that's a negative from you, a peer, a teacher... or anyone.  That's a lot of affirming? How do we get that into a day and how can it be so magical?

Hidden messages of success

Hidden messages of success

October 5, 2021

What is success?

What does it mean to you?

What does it mean to your child?

What messages are they picking up at home?

If we're not intentional about our metrics for success our children can pick up hidden messages that ultimately impact their confidence and sense of self. Being intentional about success and failure narratives is a small but vital part of parenting.  Come and see how to re-calibrate
