How to parent THE PEACEMAKER
Tuesday Jan 24, 2023
Tuesday Jan 24, 2023
Do you have an easy going child who is kind and happy to share, but sometimes gives in to those around them?
This week I'm looking at the Enneagram type 9: The Peacemaker. They're kind, non judgemental, happy to please and to step aside for others - a little too much at times.
Peacemakers and are easy to be around. They go with the flow. They're not argumentative and don't mind yielding to stronger opinions.
And whilst that seems ok on the surface - is it really? Or is something else going on?
Come and find out what is motivating the peacemaker and how we, as parents, can make sure we hone and develop their strengths...and their weaknesses.

Sex therapist Emma Waring
Tuesday Jan 10, 2023
Tuesday Jan 10, 2023
Sex and relationship therapist, Emma Waring has hopped on this week to share many gems on that subject which is easier to 'do' than talk about!
Fortunately, she's unabashed and and speaks into the many areas that can interfere with intimacy. Emma also shares some surprising stats and helps to open the curtain on what's really going on out there, compared to what film, tv and other screen options portray.
When you're busy raising a family it's possible that sex and relational needs are given a low priority. But emotionally healthy families are healthy in all aspects - the relationship between parents will suffer if intimacy is put on hold or if issues are avoided.
This podcast will clear up misinformation and hopefully start some good conversations.

How to parent THE CHALLENGER

Wednesday Dec 14, 2022
Do you have a child who is strong and assertive, but finds it hard to follow instruction sometimes?
This season I'm exploring the 9 different types on the Enneagram because it gives such insights and clues as to what motivates different character types. We're not boxing, we're being curious - understanding what makes them tick.
This week, I'm focussing on 'The Challenger' They're assertive, straight talking, decisive, resourcesful and upfront. But they're also loyal, honest and can be protective too.
There are ways to respond to this child that will result in clashes, stand-offs and disconnect. But there are also ways that can build bridges, harness their great strengths and help their super-powers not to be over-powering.

Parenting different character types
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
Tuesday Nov 29, 2022
This week I'm chatting to Helen Calder who is a life coach using the tool of the Enneagram. She walks us through the 9 different ways that people can see the world and how to understand the perspectives of others as well as their motivations, their hurdles and their opportunities for growth.
As parents it can be transformative to understand these different characters and their motivations so that we can ensure we're using the right tools to help our children to grow.
it's a fascinating tool and I'll be using this podcast as a springboard to go on and do further podcasts on each type so that we can recognise our children (partner/friend/colleague/neighbour) in the different types and use approaches that will help our connection with them and in turn help them. It's priceless!
